The Centre for Kent History and Heritage is based in the School of Humanities at Canterbury Christ Church University. This blog has all the latest news and events relating to the centre.
The Centre focuses on exciting new research projects on the history of the county of Kent, offering opportunities for local community projects, as well as hosting exhibitions, conferences, public lectures, study days and workshops.
“For many centuries Kent, and Canterbury in particular, has been at the heart of the story of English History. However, research on the history and archaeology of Kent is by no means solely of local interest and significance. Local studies are often the only way a general hypothesis may be tested and a national picture of key developments in society can often only be pieced together from an accumulation of fine-grained local studies.
The work of the Centre will not only help our local communities understand their development and history better, but will also stimulate debate within a national context about historical discoveries and our way of thinking about the past.”
