Whether you have arms like pipe cleaners or are a muscle-bound machine, you can take part in Row Britannia<\/a>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canterbury Christ Church University and Christ Church Students\u2019 Union are joining forces with institutions across the UK to take on the challenge of rowing 2020 miles to raise awareness and funds for student mental health through Sport Relief<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking part is really simple; just visit the Row Britannia web page<\/a>, find out when and where rowing is taking place, turn up and join in. You can row a mile if you\u2019re feeling energetic, or less if perspiration takes hold and you still have two seminars to attend\u2026 Whatever distance you contribute to the 2020-mile goal will be massively appreciated.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t forget to encourage your friends, fellow students, lecturers and other unwitting individuals to donate while you\u2019re at it<\/a>. Our target is \u00a33,000, which isn\u2019t a huge amount in the scheme of things, so your contribution will hopefully see us smash it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any money\nthat we raise will go towards the \u00a31.5 million target of the challenge. This\nwill be donated to charities that provide mental health support and services\nfor young people \u2013 including students here and all over the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a relevant\nand worthy cause, so it\u2019d be great to see loads of people from the Faculty of\nEducation doing their bit and showing off their rowing prowess! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrities taking part\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 5th<\/sup> March is University Mental Health day and to\ncelebrate the challenge will step-up a gear with a 12-hour rowathon as well as\nsome celebrity input. Former Women\u2019s Rugby Captain and Christ Church Honorary\nFellow, Catherine Paynter, and former British skeleton racer Lizzy Yarnold OBE,\nwho has an Honorary Doctorate, will join the challenge, alongside the Atlantic\nAvengers rowing team here at the university. They\u2019ll be rowing at the Touchdown\nCaf\u00e9, so feel free to go and cheer them on! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The challenge kicks off on Thursday 13 February at 9am in the Anselm\nFoyer, on North Holmes Road, and we\u2019re banking on a strong start thanks to\nVice-Chancellor Professor Rama Thirunamachandran, who is taking on the first\nmile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
