{"id":105,"date":"2018-04-05T09:44:22","date_gmt":"2018-04-05T08:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/engineering\/?p=105"},"modified":"2022-01-20T10:22:40","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T10:22:40","slug":"big-bang-event-at-discovery-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/engineering\/big-bang-event-at-discovery-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Bang Event at Discovery Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over 1,000 school and college-aged students attended the Big Bang event that took place on Friday 9 March, at Discovery Park in East Kent.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Big Bang was a FREE day-long education event organised by The STEM Hub, (part of Canterbury Christ Church University) which took place on Friday 9 March 2018, at the Discovery Park, with the aim of inspiring a love of STEM subjects.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured 31 interactive drop-in stands and 10 workshops, allowing every student to gain insight into a range of \u2018hands-on\u2019 experiences including interactive exhibits and workshops, talks run by STEM Ambassadors from local companies and organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Kimberley Anderson, Corporate Relations Manager for Discovery Park, said, <em>\u201cOur science tenants help to make events like the Big Bang and the East Kent Science Jamboree later in the year happen. It never ceases to amaze me just how creative they can be in getting across what can be really complex concepts in such a simple way, helping to light a spark that can inspire a generation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Alongside this, Hellen Ward, Director Kent &amp; Medway STEM, said,\u00a0<em>\u201cBig Bang has become a central part of the STEM Hub\u2019s calendar.
