Research Interests:

My current research interests are focused on the field of psi and consciousness. Whilst these tend to be lab-based research projects, I am also very interested in the ‘lived experience’ of those that report unusual or anomalous experiences.

Current Research Projects:

  • Fields of consciousness: Testing morphic resonance theory using Chinese characters. This is an online study in collaboration with Professor Chris Roe and Dr Glenn Hitchman from Northampton University.
  • Precognition: Testing retroactive facilitation effects on cognition.
  • Energy healing: Comparing different energy healing techniques.

Developing Research Areas:

  • Telepathy: Using immersive virtual reality to explore telepathy.
  • Scopaesthesia: Comparing different aspects of intention when staring at someone/using immersive virtual reality to explore the feeling of being stared at.
  • Clairvoyance: Testing clairvoyance using computer images.
  • Dream precognition: Exploring the potential of a self-report diary methodology and possible links with sensitivity/transliminality/anomalous experiences in collaboration with Dr Elizabeth Roxburgh (see here for staff profile) and Dr Malcolm Schofield (from Derby University).

Recent Research Grant Awards:

I was principal investigator on the following grants:

  • £4582.20 Society for Psychical Research grant. (2017).  This was to continue work on precognition with a study entitled: Exploring precognition using fast implicit and explicit tasks.
  • £4610.25 Canterbury Christ Church University grant (Ref: QR14/15). (2015). This was to examine the effectiveness of problem solving tools.  This grant was in collaboration with Dr Ian Hocking.
  • £2643.20 Society for Psychical Research grant. (2015). This was to continue work on precognition with a study entitled: Exploring precall using arousing images and utilising a memory practice task.
