Walking football is an enjoyable alternative to association football, aimed at engaging anyone over 50 with a fun, low-impact sport.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Originally created to keep older players involved with football despite a lack of mobility or injury, walking football has grown to encompass anyone looking to get more active in a social environment.\u00a0The key difference in the rules to walking football is that, if a player runs at any point during a game they forfeit a free kick to the opposing side. This, together with a ban on all slide tackles, works to avoid injuries and enables the sport to be played by almost anyone.<\/p>\n<p>Walking football helps to promote cardiovascular health and doesn\u2019t put undue stress on the body.
