Homi playing Rugby

Well… you are absolutely, 100% correct . But the name of the blog is “Homi Tries”, not “Homi Sees a Sport and Walks Away.” So of course, against all of my better judgment, I HAD to give it a shot.

First Thoughts: Fear → Confidence
All my worries disappeared the moment I stepped into the session at the Sports Centre. I wasn’t the smallest. I wasn’t the slowest. And although there was running involved, it did not stop me. Sure, it got rough at times (I’m not exactly the definition of athletic), but I was an absolute demon on the field… Well, compared to my attempts at other sports anyway!

By the end of the session, I had 1 goal, 2 assists, and one or two magnificent saves. Not bad for someone who doesn’t look like they belong anywhere near a rugby pitch!

Important Note: No Contact
Before anyone gets impressed and starts calling me a warrior, let me make one thing very clear we did NOT play real, full-contact rugby. That’s the only reason I’m still alive and able to write this blog. It was a non-contact version, which in my book is a massive win because I walked away completely unscathed!

Team Vibes: Friendly and Encouraging
The team and genuinely every single member was incredibly friendly. They helped me elevate my game… not by much, because you can’t fix a lack of talent. But still, my massive contribution will forever be remembered in the history books (written by me). The club has both women’s and men’s teams, so feel free to join anytime you want!
