Homi playing Futsal

My First Futsal Experience in the UK 🇬🇧⚽

Hello everyone! 👋 I’m Homi, and today I want to share one of my recent experiences playing futsal for the first time here in the UK.

At CCCU, there are plenty of different sports you can try, and as someone who enjoys trying new things, I couldn’t resist joining a futsal session. Even though I’ve played football before, this was my first time playing futsal in the UK, and it turned out to be both challenging and exciting in ways I didn’t expect. 😅

First Impressions: Fast, Intense, and Exhausting 💨

We played for about an hour, and honestly, I was exhausted within the first ten minutes. The pace of futsal is no joke! It’s much faster than outdoor football because the pitch is smaller, the ball is smaller, and there are fewer players on each team.

That means every player has to constantly switch between attacking and defending — there’s no time to rest. One moment you’re trying to dribble past opponents, and the next you’re sprinting back to stop a counterattack. It’s like a nonstop cardio workout disguised as a game. 💦

The Mental Game 🧠

What surprised me most wasn’t just the physical intensity — it was the mental focus futsal demands.

When attacking, you have to quickly scan your surroundings, decide whether to pass, dribble, or shoot, all while avoiding tackles. Then, when defending, you have to be careful not to overcommit — if you rush in too hard, a good attacker will easily dribble past you.

It’s a game that constantly tests your awareness, reaction time, and teamwork. Every small mistake can lead to a goal, and every good play feels incredibly rewarding. 🙌

Reflections and Hopes 💭

Even though futsal isn’t as big in the UK as traditional football, I really hope it grows in popularity. It’s such a fun, dynamic sport that builds quick thinking and technical skill.

I may not be the most technically or physically advanced player, but I had an amazing time. It reminded me why I love playing sports in the first place — not to be perfect, but to challenge myself, have fun, and connect with others through the game. ❤️

Thanks for reading about my futsal experience! If you’ve never tried futsal before, I definitely recommend giving it a shot — just make sure you’re ready to sweat. 😅
