Searching for a topic

Not all modules have reading lists and sometimes you will need to look up information on a topic without any direction from your tutor. For example, you must write an assignment about the environment and your tutor has advised that you can write about any aspect of the environment. Rather than having an author/title to type in, you will need to search using keywords that describe your topic e.g. “global warming” or “sustainability”.

Making effective use of LibrarySearch

Give it a go!

  1. Log in to LibrarySearch and search for a topic of your choice.
  1. When you see some results, use the left-hand panel to see how many ebooks are available on your topic.
  1. Clear your ebook filter, then using the right-hand panel, see how many Academic Journals you have found?
  1. Looking at your journal articles, use the right-hand panel to limit your search to articles published in the last 5 years. How many do you find?
