With a focus on regional cancer priorities, early diagnosis, data-driven innovation, and public engagement, the event attracted professionals from a wide range of organisations and disciplines, at clinical level and otherwise. The conversations and presentations highlighted a shared recognition that meaningful progress in cancer care requires <em>stronger partnerships<\/em> and a more <em>unified<\/em> approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attendees experienced a curated agenda that combined strategic insights, community-driven approaches, and innovative research:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2025\/07\/IMG-20250701-WA0050-1-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6034\" style=\"width:292px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2025\/07\/IMG-20250701-WA0050-1-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2025\/07\/IMG-20250701-WA0050-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2025\/07\/IMG-20250701-WA0050-1-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2025\/07\/IMG-20250701-WA0050-1.jpg 1314w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Strategic direction<\/strong> was set by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentandmedway.icb.nhs.uk\/your-health\/local-services\/kent-and-medway-cancer-alliance\" title=\"\">NHS Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance<\/a><\/strong>, highlighting regional priorities and the urgent need for integrated action.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Community engagement<\/strong> was brought to life through powerful presentations, including initiatives focused on loneliness in cancer survivors, increasing cervical screening uptake among Gypsy, Roma and Traveller women, and addressing public barriers to help-seeking behaviour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Innovation and research<\/strong> underpinned the event, with academic and industry-led talks on AI, biomarkers, digital tools, and advancements in diagnosis and treatment, reflecting the depth of expertise across Kent\u2019s institutions and partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feedback from attendees reinforced the need for collaboration. Many highlighted that the event provided a rare opportunity to build new connections, particularly for clinicians who are often excluded from business-level discussions. One participant remarked, <em>\u201cI had no idea this much research was going on,\u201d<\/em> reflecting a broader sense of discovery and appreciation for the depth of regional expertise. Others noted the practical insights shared on how to engage underserved communities who traditionally face barriers to accessing healthcare.
