To celebrate 60 years as an educational institution, the University has hosted a number of events, community engagement activities, and much more.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a University, we recognise the role that the local business community has played in our journey and are proud to be deeply rooted in Kent and Medway.\u202f With this in mind, the Enterprise and Engagement department have hosted seasonal Netwalking Club events, an active alternative to traditional indoor business networking. &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>Three key benefits of netwalking:&nbsp;<br>1.  Encourages like-minded colleagues from the business community to gather together outside of usual work environments&nbsp;<br>2.  Offers the opportunity to see new things, facilities, and green spaces&nbsp;<br>3.  A change in setting can prompt different kinds of conversations, often leading to the development of new relationships.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Testimonials from walk 3&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In early September, we hosted our penultimate Netwalking Club event. Having invited colleagues and members of the local business community to partake in hop picking, the morning was themed around \u2018starting anew\u2019 ready for Autumn and harvest season.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/20220907_094337-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2950\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/20220907_094337-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/20220907_094337-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/20220907_094337-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/20220907_094337-1-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/20220907_094337-1.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The morning involved making new connections, networking, and learning more about how we make our homegrown, Green Hops Ale.\u202f Concluding the walk with a self-guided tour of St. Augustine\u2019s Abbey before walking to the Foundry in Canterbury City centre for a free beer, fellow netwalkers commented on how much they enjoyed the fruitful conversation and relaxed environment.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ACoAAADaaTUBHg_WkkzFoyLzhGUHg9uTaJaT_rg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lisa Carlson<\/a>, CEO\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/canterbury-connected-business-improvement-district\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Canterbury Business Improvement District<\/a>\u202fsaid:&nbsp;<br><em>&#8220;The netwalking event was absolutely brilliant, green hop beer is so important to Canterbury, it is something I wanted to know about for a long time. So, to be able to come along and pick the hops and have some really relaxed conversations, and then to go to the Abbey and the Foundry and witness the making of green hop beer, was really special. A good way to get people together.&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ACoAAAMk1ogBeDTdxzp8ZfzKRthe3aavzCok4ZM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Deborah Geering<\/a>, Partner at\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/furley-page-solicitors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Furley Page Solicitors<\/a>\u202fsaid:&nbsp;<br><em>&#8220;The whole experience was fascinating. I have been in Canterbury for 20 years and a lot of the stuff I learned during the event I didn\u2019t know, so it has been enlightening. I had never been into the Abbey, and the staff that showed us how to pick the hops made it really interesting. I feel that I know a lot more now than I did. I recommend anybody doing a brewery\u202ftour or go to the Abbey.&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"858\" height=\"644\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/image.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2930\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/image.jpeg 858w, https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/image-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/cccuconnect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/710\/2022\/11\/image-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 858px) 100vw, 858px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have not been able to attend our Netwalking events so far or would like to attend another, rest assured, we have our fourth and final Netwalking Club event in December.&nbsp;The theme for this month is inevitably Christmas.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Netwalking 4  details<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our fourth Netwalking event takes place on Friday 2nd December, this time with a festive and literary theme and delivered in partnership with Kent Cricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by colleagues from the Department of Enterprise and Engagement at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canterbury.ac.uk\/arts-and-humanities\/school-of-humanities\/Staff\/Profile.aspx?staff=9a28ec2232ccc5df\" title=\"\">Professor Carolyn Oulton<\/a>, Director of the International Centre for Victorian Women Writers, we will be winding our way from the famous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesunhotelcanterbury.co.uk\/\" title=\"\">Sun Hotel<\/a>, through Canterbury City Centre and up the Old Dover Road to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oriolecafe.co.uk\/\" title=\"\">Oriole at the Lime Tree caf\u00e9<\/a>, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentcricket.co.uk\/grounds\/the-spitfire-ground\/\" title=\"\">Kent County Cricket Ground<\/a>, where we will have Christmas carols courtesy of CCCU Music and a further opportunity for networking over freshly baked mince pies and festive drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When and where?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start point: The Sun Hotel, 7-8 Sun Street, Canterbury CT1 2HX<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Date and time: Friday 2nd December<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Departure time: 12 noon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finish time: 1.45 &#8211; 2.00 pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to book?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Book your ticket via Eventbrite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/netwalking-4-tickets-435650942697\" title=\"\">here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The route<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our walk time will be approximately 40 minutes, which includes some stops at points along the way and there will be plenty of opportunity to network whilst you walk. The locations are wheelchair accessible although please note that along the route there are some inclines, including an underpass and some uneven pavement on the Old Dover Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please wear suitable attire for the time of year and activity, as the event will go ahead unless there is inclement weather. The event will end at 1.45 pm to 2 pm at the Oriole at the Lime Tree caf\u00e9 at Kent County Cricket Ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We have a different start and finish point so you may wish to consider where to park.
