But what are you going to ask them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Interviews are tricky at the best of times; you\u2019re likely to be a bag of nerves, they\u2019re likely to be thinking of 100 things including the long list of candidates to interview and what they\u2019re having for dinner, and you\u2019re trying to hold to memory that really good example you rehearsed of the answer to the question about teamworking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It gets to the end of their line of fire of questions, and suddenly you feel the silence \u2018have you got any questions for us?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You didn\u2019t prepare this bit&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t worry, read on and the above situation won\u2019t be you \u2013 we\u2019ve got suggestions aplenty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First of all though, let\u2019s consider why this bit is so important. An interview can often feel like them judging whether you fit in to their company culture, or whether you have the right skills or knowledge to fulfil the role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Secret truth? You\u2019re interviewing them too!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is your big chance to decide whether you want these people as future colleagues or managers. So in each part of your interview, remember this is about you too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you enjoy the journey to get there \u2013 is it a manageable commute? Was the person who met you kind to everyone they came across? What can you gather of the company culture?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your questions section at the end is your chance to find out all of those niggling questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well\u2026 nearly all of them. We have to mention at this point that there\u2019s some you should leave out. Remember \u2013 the negotiation stage is AFTER they\u2019ve offered you the job. Don\u2019t start throwing around outrageous demands, and remember this is part of the interview too \u2013 so what you say could still impact on whether they offer you the role at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">So, how do you go about this bit of the interview?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, it\u2019s good in advance of the interview to go through the Job Description and trawl through the website as part of your interview preparations. Also, do some research on the interviewers on LinkedIn \u2013 don\u2019t worry about them seeing that you\u2019ve viewed their profile, they\u2019ll be impressed you\u2019ve done your homework!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From your pre-research, some questions may emerge \u2013 write those down. In fact, any questions, write in a notebook (NOT on your phone!) and take them along with you. It means that when it gets to that stage of the interview, you look prepared getting out your notebook, and you\u2019re not madly trying to remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">What questions can you ask? <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, there\u2019s loads. We\u2019re giving you a few teasers to get you started, but think about what YOU want to know!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Role<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What might a \u2018normal\u2019 day look like?<\/li><li>What opportunities are there for training and progression?<\/li><li>What are the top priorities?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Team<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Can you tell me about the size\/ make-up of the team I\u2019d be working in?<\/li><li>Which other teams does this team frequently collaborate with, and how?<\/li><li>Can you tell me about team events\/ office traditions?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Company<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What are the biggest challenges for the team\/ department\/ company over the next 3 months?<\/li><li>If you\u2019ve read up on the company\u2019s vision\/ motto \u2013 \u2018I\u2019ve read that your vision statement is &#8212;-, can you tell me how that is played out in day-to-day work?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Interviewer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you\u2019ve seen lots of progression through the company, you could mention that you\u2019ve noticed that, and then ask \u2018Can you tell me more about your experiences?\u2019<\/li><li>What\u2019s your favourite thing about working here?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Next Steps<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What are the next steps in the interview process?
