Just finished your degree?\u00a0<\/strong>What are you doing next?<\/strong><\/p>\n

With deadlines coming at you left, right and centre it can be difficult to focus on what to do next. After all there are no more deadlines except the ones you set yourself.<\/p>\n

So, do you have a plan?\u00a0If your response is \u201cI don\u2019t have a clue…\u201d<\/p>\n

…Don\u2019t panic!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Be honest and accept that you don\u2019t have a clear plan<\/a>\u2026 just yet. Many people will be in the same boat, however, the best thing to do is to keep doing. Maintain the momentum you have had for the past few months.<\/p>\n

Make a plan and keep active.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here are some questions for you to ask yourself:<\/p>\n

What matters most at the moment?<\/p>\n

– Money? How much? Perhaps you should get a temporary job whilst you work out what you want to do next? There are some great ones on Unitemps<\/a>.<\/p>\n

– Using your degree? Talk to one of our advisers. Email careers@canterbury.ac.uk<\/a>, or arrange a face to face meeting or phone conversation, bookable through The CORE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

– Moving home? What comes first; a place to live or a job? Does one inform the other?<\/p>\n

Where do you want to be by this time next year? What can you do to make that happen? Who can you talk to online or in person? Spending time networking can get you as far as applying cold for 100\u2019s of jobs.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s OK not to have a plan<\/a>, providing you are actively doing something<\/em> to make things happen. <\/strong>Learn,\u00a0develop <\/strong><\/em>skills, remain open<\/strong><\/em> to opportunities and follow-up<\/strong><\/em> on chance events. Many peoples careers develop through \u2018Planned happenstance<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n
