We are pleased to once again take part in the British Council’s Venice Fellowship Programme. One student from CCCU will receive funding and support to live and research in Venice for one month during the 2022 Venice Biennale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This unique fellowship send approximately UK-based 70 students and researchers to the Venice Biennale every year. The fellows spend half their week working at the British Pavilion as stewards responsible for welcoming thousands of guests through the exhibition. For the rest of the week, fellows undertake a research project inspired by the Biennale and Venice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Full training is provided before the fellowship and you’ll get a chance to meet the other people who will be working with you during your time there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funding is provided to cover travel, accommodation, and living costs in Venice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sonia Boyce OBE RA will represent Great Britain at the 59th International Art Exhibition and will create a major solo exhibition of new work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sonia Boyce came to prominence as a key figure in the burgeoning Black-British art scene of the early 1980s. She was one of the youngest artists of her generation to have her work acquired by Tate, featuring deeply personal reflections on race, class and gender in Britain. Sonia Boyce is known for her highly innovative and experimental approach to art-making, using performance and audio-visual elements in her work. Since the 1990s, her practice has become increasingly improvisational and collaborative, inviting a broad cross-section of participants to come together and speak, sing or move in relation to the past and the present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are two stages to the application process; candidates initially apply internally and the shortlisted applications are then sent to the British Council who make the final selection. All current CCCU students are eligible to apply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Applicants should complete the application form and send it to the Arts and Culture team by MIDNIGHT SUNDAY NOVEMBER 21st (artsandculture@canterbury.ac.uk<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n An internal panel will review all applications and send the shortlist to the British Council. All applicants will be informed as to whether or not their application was shortlisted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The British Council will review the applications and notify the final candidate in early January 2022<\/strong>.
