The group, comprising Lloyd and six others, undertook the four-day journey in memory of Lloyd’s son, Max, who tragically died by suicide at the age of 22 while studying for his BA (Hons) Media & Communications in Canterbury in 2018.

Cycling through the countryside and joining the historic Pilgrim Way, the team arrived at Canterbury Cathedral on Sunday 12 April, where they were warmly welcomed at the finish. The challenge was marked not only by its physical demands, but by a strong sense of camaraderie and shared purpose, as the group rode to honour Max’s memory and raise awareness of suicide prevention.

To date, more than £34,000 has been raised in support of the Mindstep Foundation, a charity founded by Lloyd, in memory of Max. Mindstep funds pioneering research into suicide and works to break the stigma surrounding mental health. Becky’s meeting with the group provided an opportunity to recognise their outstanding achievement and underline the importance of supporting mental health awareness, research and support.

A donation page has been created for the challenge:Team fundraising for Mindstep Foundation is fundraising for Mindstep Foundation

CCCU Deputy Vice-Chancellor Becky Huxley-Binns met with Lloyd Davies and his fellow cyclists following the successful completion of their 250-mile charity cycle from Monmouth to Canterbury., in honour of Max Davies, former student.

[18,42

post-39846","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-alumni-updates","category-news
CCCU Deputy Vice-Chancellor Becky Huxley-Binns met with Lloyd Davies and his fellow cyclists following the successful completion of their 250-mile charity cycle from Monmouth to Canterbury., in honour of Max Davies, former student.
