Ahead of 2025’s Alumni Awards season, we’re casting our minds back to this year’s ceremony, and highlighting some of our remarkable runners-up in each category.

Nominated for the CCCU Alumni Outstanding Contribution Award, Munya Badze QCG LMDP MIH develops regional and national projects that make positive impact on people in business and education to inspire young people, including setting up the Enterprise Adviser Network in Kent, the Volunteer to Career programme, being a Founder Member of Kent and Medway Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremony, a STEM Ambassador and much more.

Munya has a decorated volunteering portfolio, including roles as Member Board Of Trustees at Kent Community Foundation and as part of TedX Folkestone, but it is the ways in which he has given back to CCCU that marked him as a standout in the Outstanding Contribution category.

Since receiving his QCG (Qualification In Careers Guidance, Teacher Education and Professional Development) in 2006, Munya has fostered the CCCU community by bridging the gap between students and employers, providing vital industry connections for in-curricular and extra-curricular employability support. He is always keen to collaborate and bring people together, often highlighting healthcare career opportunities for students, and keeping an open ear for anyone who would like to network or find out more about the industry.

On his importance to CCCU, Sophie Chadwick, Director of Graduate Futures, is quoted as saying:

“I have worked with Munya for a number of years, and during this time he has been a fantastic advocate for and supporter of the work we do, giving his time generously to support the University. This has included supporting recruitment processes as an external stakeholder, and more recently leading the extremely successful Skills 30:30 event, bringing together students and employers. Munya brought his enthusiasm and experience to the event – as well as his wide network of contacts, and this contributed significantly to its success.”

Munya’s crucial involvement with CCCU’s day-to-day operations is ongoing, with numerous new projects in the pipeline, too, which we are ever excited to see come to fruition under his watchful guidance.
